Trek 17: White Canyon and Ein Khudra (1-2 days)
Ein Khudra is a beautiful, lush oasis hidden in a low sandy basin not far from the main road between St. Katherine and Nuweiba/Dahab. There are two main routes from the road, one directly to the oasis via a little pass, the other via the White Canyon – the two routes can be made into a circuit. Ein Khudra is one of the sights where mainstream operators like to offer 4×4 excursions, but it is still a relatively unspoiled and truly lovely place. Vehicles approach the oasis a different way, making a big detour via Wadi Ghazala and Wadi Khudra. The trek could be rushed through in half a day, but it is worth to take your time and just explore the area and relax. There are several gardens in the oasis, they all offer cheap accommodation with simple but adequate facilities if you want to stay overnight. This is an easy-moderate trek with a couple of little scrambles along the way.
